One wonders that why would a player need tips on playing a game of Billiards. The fact of the matter remains that the game needs a technical approach through which more positive and quick results can be expected and efficacy can also be maximized. Playing on standard pool tables is also an art that needs to be mastered to produce desirable results. It can be started right from the way in which a player aims towards hitting the ball on the pool table. Aiming should be done precisely as the point at which the cue ball is hit determines the trajectory in which it will travel. If the player hits the tops, the cue ball travels along with the ball hit. A shot at the middle of the cue ball ensures that the ball stays still and when hit at the bottom, it travels backwards.
When a game of billiards is being played on a winner pool table and the balls are being taken chronologically, then the shot has to be played in such a way that the cue ball invariably lands up near to the next ball. IT has to go on like that till the last ball is hit into the pot. By doing this, the player makes the game easy for himself as the next ball automatically comes into position. Playing spin shots on standard pool tables can be tricky. The cue ball is usually struck on the side so that the ball spins in a particular direction. Striking the cue ball also matters at the time when the frame is broken as a shot in the middle will ensure that all the balls get scattered properly and become easy to play.
Players playing on a pool table also take bank shots. The bank shot has to be timed at an angle so that it rebound well and hits the ball exactly at the point where it would straightway go into the pot. Bank shots are usually complicated as there are multiple rebounds and the cue ball has to be struck with enough power so that it hits the concerned ball with considerable force. Then there are safety and defense. The art of safety is to hide the cue ball behind a ball so that the opponent finds it extremely tough to breach the barrier. Defense is the art of not potting a ball and instead, placing it at a precarious position where the opponent stands a chance of committing a foul.
Implementing these tips only help in making the game better. The player becomes technically sound and develops the ability to finish the game quickly in his favour. Shot selection improves drastically and most of the hits are successes. The player learns how to spin the ball so that it lands up in preferable positions and is kept is rhythm till the game is finished off. Billiards needs precision, which the player has to develop. But these tips add to the technical aspect of the player's game and make the individual more robust.
